BACP is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation and an accrediting body that many counsellors are registered with. It sets, promotes and maintains standards for the profession and ensures that its members abide by an accepted code of conduct and accountability.

The Health and Care Professions Council (www.hcpc-uk.co.uk)

HCPC is an independent regulator which regulates 15 other professions besides social work. Its main purpose is to protect the public by setting and maintaining standards of proficiency and conduct for the professions it regulates.
